Top 5 Social Media Apps In India

With several social media apps playing around the globe, these are the top 5 social media apps that have found a place in most of the pockets in India. The following apps are widely used by journalists, digital media agencies and PR teams for news updates, product launches, and private services to communicate with Indian audiences.

1. FACEBOOK

Though FACEBOOK is gradually declining in its users in western countries, it is still preferred by most Indians as the first step in connecting socially and fetching news, with around 2.74 billion active users.

2. INSTAGRAM

The application seems to have found space in many pockets. However, in recent times many businesses, especially Life Coaches, have taken a pace through this medium. Memes too have played a key role in declaring news to its users. The approximate users are around 1.22 billion.

3. TWITTER

This app is gradually becoming the first stop for information for any category of business or individual. The most surprising fact is that these days it has become more like a tool for PR companies for its clients and its around 353 million active users.

4. YOUTUBE

With thousands of subscriptions, YOUTUBE has taken over households, especially homemakers and older adults with less knowledge about other apps. However, they get their share of news through YouTube videos and reels. The approximate users are around 2.291 billion.

5. SNAPCHAT

Next to Instagram is Snapchat, which is slowly taking over for promotional activities by brands for their new launch or covering of live events. This app now works as a tool for freelancers for their business or service. The approximate users are around 498 million.

Although the above apps have topped the list, other apps too are gearing up for the top such as Linkedin, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, and Sharechat. However, there is a possibility of a novel addition to the list in 2023 as several start-ups find a way to fill in gaps keeping the Indian market in mind.
