Social media news round up: Instagram provides Covid-19 updates, Twitter cracks down on hateful conduct, and stories arrive to LinkedIn

Social media platforms have news for you.

Click play to listen to our latest social media news round up, enjoy!

We begin with Instagram, who are working to guide their users towards only relevant and accurate information. By removing any harmful misinformation related to the virus and highlighting links to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local health authorities, the site endeavours to avoid adding to any already existing panic. From Instagram to Twitter, who have recently announced they will be updating their rules on hateful conduct to cover discrimination based on age, disability and disease. The rules are designed to help keep Twitter conversations civil, and to set clear parameters around acceptable behaviour on the platform. For more details on the story and for the potential issues Twitter may face, click here.

And finally, it may be one of the last platforms to cave, but LinkedIn has finally announced they are adding a ‘stories’ feature on their platform. The new addition will initially only be made available to individual profiles, not businesses, but it will be interesting to see how marketers will use this platform in an engaging and insightful way. Discover why stories are so useful on all social media platforms here.
