The eagerly-awaited data project from Martin Belam and Trinity Mirror, formerly known as ‘Mysterious Project Y‘, has officially been named… Ampp3d. Yesterday, the Twitter account was up and running, as was Google+ and a Facebook page. Martin Belam, the brains behind popular BuzzFeed-y site UsVsThem, took to Twitter to make the announcement:

What do you think about the announcement – do you think that data driven journalism could possibly be as shareable as the content on UsVsThem? Let us know below

I’d imagine the sharing will be different – less shares, but less bounce?
So you think it’ll cater to a more niche audience that will go there specifically for that sort of data-driven content?
“Go there” – perhaps not that, but I imagine it as a different sort of audience. Us Vs Them is perhaps a “distraction” whereas Ampp3d is read more thoroughly.
Be interesting to see if Ampp3d traffic is as twitter heavy as Us is – I would assume people may visit directly the closer it moves to “journalism”
Perhaps, though the social media bios all place the focus on “making journalism more accessible”.
Seems as though they’ll be aiming to draw in people without too much interest in data journalism, so posts might not be thorough reads.
