On March 10, head of Instagram Adam Mosseri announced on Twitter the launch of Creator Lab, a portal “for creators, by creators”.
The portal features short, insightful videos made by a wide range of successful creators such as food influencer Carolina Gelen and writer Megan Jayne Crabbe. The influencers share valuable tips on their job experience and insights on their strategies, giving advice on how to express creativity, how to build a community with other creators, and how to turn this passion into an actual job by optimizing monetization and audience growth.
Creator Lab is open to anyone with a creator account on Instagram, and offers answers to all the most important questions for anyone seeking a career on the platform, such as what is the best time to post. Safety is a priority on the portal, which includes guidance on the steps to follow when confronted with risky situations such as getting your account hacked.
The launch of Creator Lab clearly shows how Instagram is committed to pushing this community as forward as possible, and how valuable creators are for the success of the platform. “We believe in the importance of the creator community,” said Mosseri on Twitter. “I said at the beginning of the year that it was going to be a consistent focus of us to do all that we can for the creator community.”
This initiative could be also very appealing for the many journalists who share content on Social Media. Over the past year, more and more news outlets and journalists have been publishing videos on TikTok, and this trend is likely to grow after BBC News launched its account on the platform. The same could happen on Instagram, which has proven to be a very successful platform for journalists, especially to attract a younger audience.
