Proving that modern communication tools can be used to reinterpret the past, an Oxford Uni history graduate has launched an ambitious six-year project to bring the Second World War (back) to life via Twitter.
Alwyn Collinson, 24, is meticulously cataloguing every event – from eyewitness statements to military manoeuvres – in real time from the Twitter handle @RealTimeWWII and says;
“The volume of tweets is definitely driven by events. Materials that show what people at the time cared about, like newspaper reports, are all easily available online.”
